Michael Sweerts Week: "Head of an Old Woman"

This week I'm going to post a few paintings by Michael Sweerts (which I assume is pronounced "Sveerts").

It's very common to see paintings called "Old Man/Woman" wherein the theme of the work is the creeping  shadow of death, but this painting is not like that at all--it's a happy painting, which is refreshing to see.
